Conditions:

 1. SPONSORS : The Lucien Bombardier Pace is a race with a purse sponsored by Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du Québec.
2. NOMINATION FEE : Nomination fees are payable in Canadian dollars, either in cash or by cheque drawn on a Canadian bank, made payable to Standardbred Canada. Payments must be sent to the Standardbred Canada office at 2150 Meadowvale Blvd, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, L5N 6R6.
A nomination form must be duly completed for each horse. These forms are available at the Club Jockey du Québec office, on the CJQ website, and on the Standardbred Canada website.
If fewer than 15 fillies are nominated, the event may be canceled at the discretion of the sponsors. In such cases, all nomination fees will be refunded for each horse nominated before the cancellation.
There is no additional fee to maintain the eligibility of a horse after the nomination deadline.
3. STARTING FEES : Starting fees are payable in Canadian dollars, either in cash, online (hippodrome3r.ca), or by cheque drawn on a Canadian bank, made payable to the Club Jockey du Québec, no later than one hour before the race. However, the Club Jockey du Québec reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to require one or more individuals to pay the starting fees in a specific form.
Whether or not the horse starts, starting fees must be paid to the race secretary at Hippodrome 3R unless the entry is withdrawn before the close of entries.
If starting fees are not paid within the prescribed timeframe, the horse will be removed from the list of starters, and the starting fees will remain due.
Starting fees may also be paid at the Club Jockey du Québec office, 1850 boul. Des Forges, Trois-Rivières (Québec), G8Z 0A2, after the horse's registration, no later than 4:00 p.m. on the event day (strictly during office hours).
4. LIABILITY : Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du
Québec, as a courtesy, will do everything in their power to notify clients of required payments. Regardless of whether notice is received, it remains the responsibility of the owner, the owner’s agent, or the trainer to ensure that payments are submitted by the specified date and time.
No responsibility for the eligibility or ineligibility of a horse will be assumed by Standardbred Canada or the Club Jockey du Québec.
5. PAYMENT TERMS : For payments sent by mail, the postmark is required, and Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du Québec will consider the payment received on the date and time of the postmark.
To avoid misunderstandings, Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du Québec strongly recommend sending payments by registered mail.
If a payment is not received within the required timeframe, Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du Québec will not accept postal service deficiencies as an excuse and assume no responsibility in this regard.
It is the responsibility of the owner, the owner's agent, or the trainer to ensure that payments are received by Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du Québec by the specified date.
For payments made via a courier service licensed for trucking in Canada, Standardbred Canada and the Club Jockey du Québec will consider the payment received on the date and time the courier receives it.
6. ELIGIBILITY: Progeny of 2024. Two-year-old pacing fillies eligible to race in 2026 and registered with Standardbred Canada or the United States Trotting Association before the nomination deadline, and: (a) Sired by a stallion exclusively standing in Canada throughout the 2023 breeding season, OR (b) Fillies sired by a non-Canadian stallion but wholly owned by Canadian residents or citizens at the time of the nomination deadline, provided that: (i) If the owner is a partnership, stable, corporation, or similar entity, all partners, members, or shareholders must be Canadian residents or citizens. (ii) If leased, both the lessee(s) and lessor(s) must hold Canadian citizenship and residency. (iii) To maintain eligibility, fillies must remain wholly owned by Canadian residents or citizens until the race. (iv) A filly registered and sold to a non-resident or non-citizen of Canada loses its eligibility upon sale. (v) All registered sales, whether before or after nomination, must be bona fide transactions.
For the purpose of these conditions, “residents of Canada” are persons who maintain their permanent residences in Canada at the time nominations close and resided in Canada for at least 183 days between January 1st of the current year and the declaration date. “Citizens of Canada” are persons who maintain their Canadian citizenships.
For a horse to start in this event, the owner, the owner’s agent or the trainer must :
Enter the horse in the race;
Ensure that by the time of registration, the horse meets the qualifying standards of the Hippodrome 3R;Ensure that by post time, the horse’s name does not appear on the qualifying list;
Ensure that nomination fee was paid within allotted time; Ensure that the starting fee is paid within the allotted time.
Standardbred Canada and Quebec Jockey Club reserves the right to verify, or have verified any horse, gelding or mare’s age by the following criteria, the registration certificate and the examination of the horse’s teeth.
7. Non-Compliance with Conditions : If one or more eligibility or participation conditions for the Lucien Bombardier Pace 2026 are not met, the horse will not be allowed to participate in the event.
In the event of non-payment of nomination fees, starting fees, or any related fees within the prescribed deadlines, the horse will be ineligible to participate in any event sponsored, in whole or in part, by the Club Jockey du Québec, even if the horse changes ownership, until the outstanding amounts have been fully recovered.
A cheque returned by the bank marked "insufficient funds" will result in the payment being considered unpaid, with all associated consequences, including strict adherence to deadlines.
10. NUMBER OF STARTERS: The Lucien Bombardier Pace 2026 is reserved for the eight (8) fillies with the highest earnings in 2026 as of the registration deadline. In the case of a tie, the potential starter(s) will be determined by a draw among the tied fillies.
If more than eight (8) fillies are entered, a maximum of two (2) additional fillies will be designated as also eligible. These fillies will be the ninth (9th) and tenth (10th) highest earners.
11. STARTING POSITIONS : Starting positions are determined by a draw. This draw is conducted using software provided by Standardbred Canada and/or a draw drum in the presence of two witnesses (cf. RACJ Rules, Article 211).
The draw is public and takes place at the location, date, and time determined and published by Hippodrome 3R.
12. PURSE : The sponsored purse for the event is CAD 15,000, consisting of contributions of CAD 5,483 from Standardbred Canada and CAD 9,517 from the Club Jockey du Québec. All nomination and starting fees will be added to the sponsored purse.
13. PURSE DISTRIBUTION : The purse distribution will be as follows, in accordance with RACJ rules:
5, 6, 7, 8, starters : 50%, 25%, 12%, 8%, 5%
4 starters: 50%, 25%, 15%, 10%
3 starters : 55%, 30%, 15%
2 starters : 65%, 35%
1 starter : 100%
14. RACE DISTANCE: All races in the event will be contested over a distance of one (1) mile.
15. VALIDATION OF INFORMATION: Information obtained from Standardbred Canada regarding each horse will be considered official.
16. RETENTION : The Club Jockey du Québec and Hippodrome 3R reserve the right, with prior notice, to require that all or certain horses be placed in a retention barn. During retention, procedures described in Part IV of the CJQ and Hippodrome 3R Track Rules apply.
17. DRIVER COMPENSATION : The Club Jockey du Québec reserves the right to withhold 5% of each share of the purse earned by a horse, in addition to applicable taxes, to be paid to the horse's driver.
18. TRAINER COMPENSATION : The Club Jockey du Québec reserves the right to withhold 5% of each share of the purse earned by a horse, in addition to applicable taxes, to be paid to the horse's trainer.
19. CHANGES TO SCHEDULE: The Club Jockey du Québec reserves the right to modify the dates and locations listed in the event calendar, subject to RACJ approval. The Club Jockey du Québec will take the necessary steps to inform affected participants.
20. INTERPRETATION: The eligibility and participation conditions for this event have been approved by the Club Jockey du Québec and the RACJ. Any interpretation of these conditions falls exclusively under the jurisdiction of the RACJ.
