Canada's 2021 Win Leaders - 15 Wins
SOS JUSTIFIED
SOS Justified earned 15 victories from 34 starts to follow up on a 14-win campaign last year. The nine-year-old pacer earned his victories at Leamington Raceway, where he won seven in a row this fall racing from the Tyler Nostadt stable, and Rideau Carleton Raceway. The popular Art Colony gelding set the tone for his season with a February 16 victory at Rideau when trained by Anne Marie Turenne and has found his way back to the Ottawa oval, where he closed out his $42,670 campaign on Boxing Day after being claimed eight times this year for an average price of $9,000. He is currently owned by trainer Randy Scott and Kelly Scott of Trenton, Ont.
THE LIGHT SPEED
Three-year-old pacer The Light Speed also made 15 trips to victory lane in 2021. Trained and driven by Guy Gagnon, the consistent Moon Beam gelding only missed the board twice in his 25-race sophomore season, recording seven runner-up finishes and a third in addition to his winning performances while banking $92,626 for owner/breeder Michel Nolette of Princeville, Que. Among his highlights, The Light Speed took his mark of 1:51.4 on October 24 in one of his nine Preferred wins at Rideau Carleton Raceway.
