Woodmere Ideal Art Looks To Repeat
Horse Racing New Brunswick is back in action this Saturday afternoon (June 19) at Saint John's Exhibition Park Raceway with a six-dash harness racing card scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
Last week's top-class winner, Woodmere Ideal Art, will seek his second consecutive win in the day's $1,500 featured event, carded as race five. Owned by the Ultimate Stable, the pacer was taken in the 2016 Atlantic Classic Sale at just over $15,000 in lifetime earnings. That was a wise investment, as the Sifroi Melanson trainee has won over $80,000 in the Maritimes and sports a lifetime mark of 1:54.4 taken over Truro Raceway as a four-year-old.
Robert Laffin will pilot the rugged pacer from post three on Saturday afternoon. He provided a slight upset a week ago in the top class in a speedy 1:57.2. Kate MacNeil's pacer Thankyouallmyfans will have the rail advantage, coming off a solid second-place effort last week to Woodmere Ideal Art.
Blood Money, owned, trained and driven by Dr. Mitchell Downey, will look to get back in the win column after a third-place effort in the feature last week and will leave from the outside post four. Rounding out the field is the solid pacer K D Overdrive, who moves up to the top class of a win last week for owner-trainer Steve Mason. Kent Beattie, who will be in the bike for the first time since 2019, will drive K D Overdrive from post two.
Both the Summer Handicapping Challenge and the Autumn Gold Series, presented by Horse Racing New Brunswick, will continue this week.
