Standardbreds On The Trail

The versatility of harness horses was once again on display this past weekend, as several horses and riders took part in a pair of trail rides on Sunday (Sept. 8).

Representing the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society at the Wellington-Waterloo Hunter Pace were Marie Brooking aboard Leonardo Da Lindy, Debi O’Brien-Moran on Calamar, Emma Christoforou with The Painted Pony and Sarah Cuthbertson with her OSAS adoptee West Grey Bay.

“There were 135 horses and riders who took part,” noted OSAS’s Joanne Colville. “It was another excellent opportunity for us to showcase how adaptable our Standardbreds truly are.”

Also on Sunday was a trail ride hosted by the Rockwood Trail Riders. Representing Standardbreds at that event were Tracy Coomber and Hugo and Mary Mark with Grin And Boo It.

In addition, Joanne and Emma provided outriding for the harness racing card at Saturday’s Ohsweken Fair which saw a great turnout.
