A Delightful O'Brien For McEneny
After campaigning her sire Bettors Delight to Horse of the Year honours 16 years prior, Scott McEneny returned to the O'Brien Awards stage when Bettors Up captured the hardware for Canada's Three-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year at the annual Black Tie Gala honouring the best in Canadian harness racing on Saturday, Feb. 3 in Mississauga, Ont.
"It feels great," said McEneny after the 2017 O'Brien Awards. "To be part of Bettors Delight was just amazing. I've always bought his offspring, and this one here is very special because we picked her out, she was very cheap...and I actually own part of her so it's really good that way."
Bettors Up put together an outstanding season, finishing first or second in ten of her 17 races while adding more than a half million dollars to her bankroll for owners Brad Grant, Teresa Davidson and Michelle McEneny. She scored a career best 1:49.4 effort at Mohawk Racetrack in the Fan Hanover Final.
This is the tenth in a series of several post-event video interviews with O'Brien Award finalists, sponsored by Horse Racing Alberta.
