Update On ‘Historical Racing’ In Kentucky

Churchill Downs Incorporated has announced that on Wednesday (December 20) it will conduct a ground-breaking ceremony at one of its Louisville facilities that will ultimately feature ‘historical racing’ terminals.

The Wednesday event will also feature the unveiling of the development’s name and branding.

Churchill Downs expects the 85,000-square foot facility, located at 4520 Poplar Level Road, to strengthen Kentucky’s signature horse racing industry through larger purses and greater incentives for breeders and trainers.

The facility will also drive new economic growth and create an estimated 400 jobs in the Louisville community.

In June, the company announced that it was investing $60 million to revitalize its former ‘Trackside’ location at 4520 Poplar Level Road.

Speakers that are scheduled to be at Wednesday’s groundbreaking include Churchill Downs CEO Bill Carstanjen, Churchill Downs Racetrack President Kevin Flanery, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, renowned horse trainer Dale Romans, and Dr. David Richardson of the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission.
