Live Racing At EPR Begins Monday

Horse Racing New Brunswick is pleased to announce that live racing will commence this coming holiday Monday (May 22) at Exhibition Park Raceway with a first-race post time of 1:00 p.m.

The Monday card will include the Bill Quigg Memorial for three-year-old colts and fillies.

The Bill Quigg Memorial was first raced at Exhibition Park Raceway in 1973 and remained there – with the exception of 1975, when no race was held – until 1977. Since 1978, the Bill Quigg has been held at Fredericton Raceway. It is the longest running stakes race in the Maritimes and was the first to establish a separate division for fillies in 1990. With there currently being no live racing set for Fredericton Raceway this year, HRNB is pleased to announce that the race will now be back at Exhibition Park Raceway.

The track at EPR has been resurfaced, and, according to Gilles Barrieau, “It's the best it has been in years!”

Horse Racing New Brunswick has also partnered with the Saint John Exhibition, which has kindly allowed HRNB to use their new barn as the race paddock. Horse Racing New Brunswick has its horsemen's canteen up and running, and it will be opened early enough to serve breakfast on race day for those early risers on the backstretch.

Food vendor trucks, cold beer, live racing, and free prizes! What more could you want on a holiday Monday!?!
