Longtime horseman Gary Dunbar of Richardson, Sk. passed away on Tuesday, November 3 at the Regina General Hospital with his family by his side at the age of 77.

Gary's life was truly a life of horsemanship. Having been inducted into the Canadian Hackney Hall of Fame along his wife Carole for outstanding contributions in the equine world, he lived his life caring for his family and his many horses and birds.

Currently Gary & Carole have three horses racing at Fraser Downs in partnership with Kelly Hoerdt: Good Day Is Coming, Coco Kola Cowboy and Spiderdman. A horse they owned, Shadow Promises still holds a Standardbred track record at Marquis Downs.

His enduring legacy of caring for animals was a life that Gary embraced with his entire being and was something he would have never traded for any other way of life on this earth. He leaves behind many close lifelong friends and he will be eternally missed and deeply loved forever by his family.

Gary was predeceased by his parents, Eldon and Margaret Dunbar and his beloved only Grandson, Jorden. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Carole and his only son and best friend, Trent.

At Gary's request there will be no service.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the family and friends of Gary Dunbar.
