The idea of a Standardbred stable training its racehorses to $20 million in single-season purse earnings can seem far fetched – a concept and goal that are simply inconceivable to many. The stable of trainer Ron Burke has reached the accomplishment yet again, and the man at the head of the operation has given a shout out to those that help make it happen.

Heading into the Monday, November 18 programs of action, Burke’s stable has seen its pupils race to $20,527,630 in purses thus far in 2019.

The numbers are staggering and so are the results.

Burke trainees have made 4,439 starts this year and won 894 of those races. They have finished on the board 2,096 times this year, which has helped settle the Burke Stable’s 2019 UTR at .323 at the moment.

The 2019 racing season is now the seventh consecutive campaign that the Burke Stable has seen its charges race to over $20 million in purses.

The accomplishment isn’t lost on Burke, who on Sunday (Nov. 17) took to social media to offer appreciation to his crew.

“#BurkeBrigade thanks guys for another 20 million season,” Burke wrote. “While some may take it for granted, I understand and appreciate the hours and effort.”

Seven consecutive seasons of more than $20 million in purse earnings is just wild, but what is also impressive are the years that led up to the run.

Burke’s stable led up to the current streak with four massive campaigns: $14.8 million in 2009, $18.1 million in 2010, $18.5 million in 2011, and $19.6 million in 2012.
