Trot Insider has learned that longtime Woodbine Entertainment Group commentator Chris Connor will be leaving the company for a position at Communications New Brunswick, in his native province.
Connor joined the WEG team in 2000, when HPItv was known as TRN. Connor covered simulcast shows and also handled duties on network broadcasts that showcased both thoroughbreds and standardbreds.
Connor's final show will be this Saturday, November 15, when the rich Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals are to take place at Woodbine Racetrack from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. on The Score Television Network.

I have watched you mature as one of the best sports broad casters in harness racing of all time. I do not think most people realize where you started and where you are now. As a harness racing fan I will miss you on the score but not as much as WEG will. Sorry to see you go and GOOD LUCK!!!!!. You will do fine what ever you choose.

I always loved watching and listening to Chris on HPI-TV or WEG. His selections were always gutsy and he wasn't afraid to try to beat the 1-2 shot. By far the best analyst I've seen in a long time.

Being in the media myself and having owned some standardbreds as well, It was good to see your polished approached to broadcasting and to enhance the sport of harness racing. Chris-Congratulations on a job well done! I remember talking to you one day many years ago in Fredericton at the track when you were dreaming of doing what you did on The Score and on the harness racing scene. Your dream was realized and your success well deserved.
The late Leo Durocher was wrong when he said, "Nice guys finish last." You proved him wrong. Congratulations for finishing first. You have been a credit to the broadcasting profession and the harness racing industry.
Good luck in your future career.
