Hall of Famer Keith Clark ticked off another milestone on his list of accomplishments during Sunday afternoon’s harness racing card at Alberta Downs

.

The veteran horseman recorded his 6,000th driving win in the second race aboard the Carl Archibald-trained As Seely Promised. Clark and the three-year-old filly sired by his former stable standout As Promised rallied home off cover to win by three and a half lengths in 1:57.4. The filly is owned by Meadowlark Farms of Calgary, Alta.

The resident of DeWinton, Alta., who has banked over $30.6 million in lifetime purses while in the sulky, later began his crusade towards his next milestone with a gate-to-wire 1:54.3 victory in the eighth race aboard four-year-old Dragon Again son Revolver for trainer Harold Haining and owner Donald Richardson of Cochrane, Alta.

In Sunday stakes action, the undefeated Blue Star Beauty romped to a 1:55.1 eight length victory in the $35,000 Northern Lights Sales Stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies. Bill Tainsh Jr. did the driving for trainer Doug Stout and owner Derek Stout of Camrose, Alta. The daughter of As Promised-Whitesand Secret is now five-for-five in her career with $55,475 earned. Popcorn (Jamie Gray) finished second and Cool One (Don Monkman Jr.) rounded out the top three finishers.

This week’s $8,800 Open Pace went to the front-stepping Wrangler Hitech and trainer, driver and owner Scott Knight in a career-best 1:53. The five-year-old son of As Promised-Raines Lucey bested the quick-closing Greek Ruler (John Chappell) and Smart Shark (Connie Kolthammer) by two and three-quarter lengths for an 8-1 upset.

K.A. Clark Congrats Bro. Incredible number, keep on truckin!!!! Doug not sure if that was Mavis...I might be wrong but I thought it was Marla Adios....I remember the wreck!!!! She was a dandy.

Congratulations on winning 6000 races. Hope that number 7000 comes in the city of Calgary.

Congratulations, Keith. You've come a long way from going head-over-apple-cart in that first turn at Regina with Frank Niebergall's Mavis Adios, probably before your first win, and keeping the crooked-legged Billy Quill patched up for the cheap claimers. But you never were afraid, certainly not of hard work, and it has deservedly paid off big time for you.

Congratulations Keith on reaching this amazing milestone. A tremendous amount of blood, sweat, and hard work to reach this plateau!
