San Pail joined harness racing’s exclusive millionaire’s club with a dominant 1:54 victory in Thursday night’s $50,000 Open Trot at Mohawk Racetrack

.

Randy Waples guided the five-year-old gelded son of San Pellegrino-Village Beauty to a two-length victory over Slave Dream and Gutsy Volo.

San Pail entered the evening just $21,000 shy of the $1 million mark but needed a win in order to achieve the milestone.

It was the 10th win this season and 20th lifetime for San Pail who is owned by Glenn Van Camp of Port Perry along with trainer Rod Hughes of Dunsford, Ontario. Earlier this season, the slick-gaited trotter posted the biggest win of his career when he upset the previously undefeated Lucky Jim and world champion Arch Madness in the $720,500 Maple Leaf Trot at Mohawk.
