Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has gone on the record as saying that if Ontario jurisdictions label themselves as willing host municipalities for casino expansion, they would not have complete control over the location of the facilities because it is "ultimately going to be the decision of the OLG to propose to the City."

Watson' comments have come via a brief article by News Talk Radio 580 CFRA.

The mayor was cited as saying that Ottawa residents should know before the end of 2012 whether or not City Council will officially present Ottawa as a willing host municipality to the OLG for the corporation's controversial gaming modernization plan.

"At that point, we wouldn't be deciding locations, because the location is ultimately going to be the decision of the OLG to propose to the City at a second occasion, probably in 2013," Watson was quoted as saying.

What country do we live in here? Last time I checked we live in a democratic country. It's time the OLG was reined in. Every taxpayer in the province of Ontario has a say what happens in their community. This new modernization and privatization plan is shoving casinos down the throats of communities whether they want them or not, is creating turf wars between existing facilites and neighbouring wannabees and decimating the horse racing industry. Sounds more like organized crime than a government!
