In the 1990’s Andy Miller won driving titles at Maywood Park and Balmoral, and now Miller can add Freehold Raceway to his resume as top gun in the 2009-2010 driving standings with 162 victories
.
A native of Chicago, Miller moved his family and stable to New Jersey in 2006. The 41-year-old Miller said, “I am fortunate to have had good success at a price of hard work and long hours. Winning the Freehold driving title means a lot to me as it is close to home and I love racing here as well.”
Dave Pinkney Jr. captured the training crown with 33 wins. He left Nova Scotia when he was 22 years old to campaign in New England. He won his only driving and training title in the early 90’s. Soon thereafter he packed up his tack and moved to New Jersey and has been here ever since.
The 51-year-old trainer said, “I am very pleased about winning the training title in my back yard and hope for continued success.”
Freehold Raceway will remain open throughout the summer for afternoon and evening simulcasting with live racing returning August 12.
