"My dad passed away about 10 years ago and he had a lot of dreams that he wanted to fulfill that he didn't get a chance to do. I made sure I was going to fulfill some dreams and this was one that I wanted to do -- call horse races -- so I just followed a dream and this is where I am."

Western Fair Raceway announcer Shannon 'Sugar' Doyle was in the hot seat to answer questions from his fellow horsemen and women in Standardbred Canada’s latest edition of Ask Me Anything.

Standardbred Canada asked trainers, drivers and track management what questions they would like to ask the popular Canadian race-caller. Doyle discusses various topics ranging from his racing background to the art of calling races, how he got his 'sweet' nickname, and his plans following this Friday's meet-closing Molson Pace Night.

Sugar is a great fit in London!! He's really done a great job and you can see the passion he has for the game and we need more like him in the game. Best of luck my friend!!

sugar is a class person, met him 10 years ago at northlands, who lives for horse racing 24/7,and interacts with all people, providing children school tours and even stayed in the northlands dorms to be close to the action. He would seek advice on improving his performance standards, when we made the move to thoroughbreds all i said was walk around the barns and hand out condition books because his personality is infectious, On a personal note his greatest call was a hot dog eating contest where he was screaming big lum is on the bun!!! as i choked my way to victory during capital x.

Here's the race that Sugar refers to around the 9:30 mark. Thanks Sugar for taking the time to do the interview!
