Lazurus charged to overtake Golden Son in deep stretch for a 1:53.3 lifetime best at Dover Downs on Tuesday, Feb. 27.

Off at 6-1, driver Tim Tetrick sat patiently with Lazurus as race-favourite Theresademoninme cut most of the mile. Russell Foster put Golden Son in gear to assume the lead on the final turn, and Lazurus closed between horses to collar Golden Son in the final strides for his second win of the year.

The Credit Winner-Afterglow Hall gelding conditioned by Scott DiDomenico for Dana Parham, CC Racing and Triple D Stables won for the 17th time and now has earned $203,537 in his career. Celebrity Pegasus came on fast to take third place.

Haha ... The title got me. I have been wishing that we would get the honor to see LazARus be brought overseas and race here. I saw the title, and thought he raced again as he just suffered his first defeat in not being in the top 3 in 45 lifetime starts overseas. He finished 7th in the historic sub 1:47 mile last week, aptly named the Inter-Dominion Tab Touch "Miracle Mile" pace.

I thought this was a follow-up and would have been too soon to race, especially over here. This is a nice horse but is LazURus. Little difference in name but a long way in distance and nothing against this good horse, Lazurus, but also a long way from maybe one of the greatest: LAZARUS, currently racing in Australia and New Zealand. If you have not had the opportunity to see LazARus race, check out a couple of the videos on you tube. One amazing animal. Maybe Standardbred Canada can do a post on the two and the confusion as I am sure some other followers will have caught notice of the title and it would make an interesting article as well highlighting some of their accomplishments.

Great job to the connections of this fella here, as he is still a nice horse.
