Wall Does It Again

Published: December 27, 2010 01:17 pm EST

After yesterday’s Boxing Day card at Western Fair Raceway, driver Dave Wall put his seasonal bankroll over the one million mark, to give him an amazing 29 straight years to surpass that milestone

.

What makes that accomplishment even more impressive is the fact that many of those million dollar seasons were achieved prior to the slot enhanced purses in Ontario.

One of Ontario’s most popular horsemen, Wall was known for years as Mr. OSS thanks to his dominance in the provincial program. Earlier this year Wall became one of the few drivers to reach 7,000 lifetime wins. His career earnings sit at $59 million.

Western Fair will be racing today, tomorrow and Thursday with a 3:35 p.m. post time. They will also be offering a New Year’s Eve card on Friday night with a 7:05 p.m. post time.

Way to go Davey. Thanks for the memories from the wonderfull Civic Holiday race cards in Kincardine long ago and of all the miles in between that have brought you here in your career. You are a great Ambassador for Canadian Harness Racing and I know everyone in Bruce County is very proud of you!!

Congradulations Dave on another milestone with many more ahead and the Hall of Fame at the end. From The Durbridge Family.

Congratulations Wally! That's quite a feat, driving mainly on B tracks! Kind of explains why you are on the Wall of Fame at WFR. Wishing you Good Luck on 30 straight in 2011!

Congratulations Dave for your amazing 29 straight years’ milestone. Permit me to bring you back in time. Remember Friday, November 18, 1988, a little horse called “Ivan” (my namesake), trained by Jean Poulin. That night, Ivan won the 3 year old Ontario Sires Stakes Championship held at Western Fair Raceway. The purse then was $100,000. Remember the starters? Here they are:
1 - (4-1) Silver Reign – William (Bud) Fritz
1a- (4-1) Halo Girl – Allan Zettler
2 - (6-1) Marilarts Visitor – Mark Williams
3 - (7-2) Riser – Ray McLean
4 - (10-1) Allwin Scotty – Paul MacDonell
5 - (7-1) Kinway Heather – Louis J. Kindornay
6 - (8-1) Armbro Gerald – Terry Kerr
7 - (5-2) Ivan – Dave Wall

The first three finishers were: 7-6-4

If you know Dave Wall you are a winner too. He deserves all the records that come his way. Western fair has the 3 gentlemen, veteran drivers. Dave, Ross Battin and Terry Kerr. WEG has Paul MacDonnell, Roger Mayotte and Mike Saftic . The jury is still out on the young guns !!!
