Millionaire pacing mare Dreamfair Eternal unleashed her ferocious late kick to take down the boys in Saturday night’s $42,000 Open Pace at Woodbine Racetrack
Entering the race off three-week layoff, Dreamfair Eternal kicked home off cover with a :26.2 final quarter to notch her sixth consecutive victory.
Even-money favourite Lucky Man (Mark MacDonald) rolled to command before the :26-second first quarter mark and proceeded to the half in :54.3. As he headed to the next station in 1:23.2, driver Randy Waples tipped Dreamfair Eternal to the outside from fifth and picked up cover from All Tiger N (Luc Ouellette).
Once the field of six entered the stretch, Dreamfair Eternal kicked off cover and powered home to score by half a length in 1:50.2 over Lucky Man. Get Out Of Dodge (Rick Zeron) closed well from the back of the pack to show.
Dreamfair Eternal paid $5.50 to win as the 3-2 second choice. The six-year-old daughter of Camluck-J Cs Nathalie, trained by Pat Fletcher, now boasts a record reading 15-4-1 in 21 starts this year with wins in the Artiscape Pace, Masters Series, Milton Stakes, Breeders Crown and Forest City Pace. Her earnings climbed to $923,320 for 2010 and $1.68 million lifetime for owner-breeder John Lamers of Ingersoll, Ont.
