Randy Waples raised eyebrows when he started regularly driving at Windsor Raceway this Fall. Waples' increased workload was, as it turns out, raising money for a worthwhile cause
.
Since Windsor's meet started near the end of September, Waples committed to make the trek down Hwy. 401 with the intention of donating a percentage of his purse winnings at Windsor to a charity of his choice.
After two months of drives at Windsor in which the blue-and-gold clad reinsman won 24 of 83 starts for a 0.417 win percentage, Waples donated $2,600 to the Windsor Food Bank.
With a month and a half left on the 2010 harness racing calendar, Waples sits atop the WEG drivers' standings with 245 wins and more than $6.1 million in purses.
