Township Asks Province To Support Panel Findings

In a letter addressed to Premier Dalton McGuinty, Township of King Mayor Steve Pellegrini is asking the province to support the findings of the OMAFRA Panel and work with racing to help sustain the industry.

According to Pellegrini, King Township boasts "over 374 farms, 7457 horses and $13.3 million dollars in annual economic impact" and "the removal of the OLG Slots at Racetrack Program without an adequate replacement program in place will have a cumulative negative impact on the entire agricultural industry in King and all of Ontario that includes job losses, not only in the racing sector but in the equine sector in general."

Pellegrini's letter appears below or can be viewed here.

I hope your prediction is correct, unfortunately I fear it may be too late. Unless Horwath and Hudak get off their butts, and put forth and pass a non-confidence motion quickly, and stop the SLAUGHTER OF THE EQUINE INDUSTRY in Ontario, the damage already done and still occurring will be irreversable!

I predict the current prime minister of the province of Ontario is going to step down. He appears to have lost his direction and is listening to staff that have vested interests in tearing the province apart. When the General Motors Plant in Oshawa closes it may hit home. He will not last that long. Bruce T. Winning
