No Guarantees Upsets In Fraser Stake
The trip was a tough one for No Guarantees in Friday’s $30,000 Mares Open Stake for four-year-old pacers at Fraser Downs, but she managed to grind her way to a 1:57.4 triumph for driver Paul Davies.
No Guarantees got away in mid-pack in the early going while Tahiti Seelster shot to the top and dished out fractions of :27.3 and :58.2. No Guarantees commenced her first-over bid on the way to the half, and she gained a short lead over Tahiti Seelster as they raced together past the three-quarter marker in 1:27.1. A :30.3 closing panel by No Guarantees was good enough to earn her the one-length decision over Brighten Your Life in 1:57.4. Third prize went to Mysterious Lady.
J J J Stables of Prince George, BC owns the four-year-old Shadow Play-Michelles Fury miss who hangs her harness bag in the barn of trainer Debra Mc Carthy. The eight-time winner is quickly closing in on $150,000 in career earnings.
Mach Away came away victorious in this week’s edition of the $11,000 Fillies & Mares Open for Team Hennessy.
Michael Hennessy had her on top through fractions of :27.3, :58.2 and 1:27.3, and a :29.1 closing quarter was more than enough for her to seal the deal by 1-1/4 lengths over Part Time Lady in 1:56.4. Remember Terror rounded out the top three finishers.
Rod Hennessy trains the seven-year-old daughter of Mach Three-Digga DIgga for owner Bryan Brook of Leduc, AB. It was the first win of the season – and the 29th to date – for the career winner $148,492.
