Pacesetters Prevail In Preferreds
Lets Wait And See and Twin B Inspiring held off a pair of pocket-pulling rivals to score victories in their respective Preferred 3 assignments on Sunday night (January 29) at Flamboro Downs.
Lets Wait And See ($19.60) won tonight's $7,500 Preferred 3 for male pacers in an identical 1:54.4 time that he posted during his last Flamboro win in this class two weeks ago. Driver Jason Ryan fired the 8-1 shot off the gate to lead from post eight with favourite Senior Market (Mike Whelan) tracking in the pocket until launching a late-mile challenge along the pylons. However, Lets Wait And See prevailed by a half-length for his 12th career win. Scott Friend trains the six-year-old Shadow Play gelding for owner Gordon Hart of Kitchener, Ont. Saulsbrook Peach (Robert Shepherd) advanced first-over to finish third.
Twin B Inspiring ($6.40) was a neck better than the favoured Regal Luck (Paul MacKenzie) in the distaff division, just hanging on at the wire for her 19th career win in 1:56.3 for driver Nick Steward and owner/trainer Jonah Moase. The seven-year-old Camluck mare took control of the field off the gate with her inner post advantage and held off Regal Luck as that mare also closed inside to make it a close finish. Bestulldotanite (Robert Shepherd) was only able to make it wihtin one and a half lengths of the winner while chasing first-over.
