Ring-A-Ding-Ding! Pacer Upsets At 184-1
Bettors pegged Wednesday’s 13th and final race at The Meadows as a predictable affair, hammering down Town Speaker to 3-5. But James “Calvin” Dodson and Dinger Four had other ideas, as they rushed by the favourite in the shadow of the wire to score at an astronomical 184-1.
Dinger Four returned $370.20 to win and $464.80 across the board for a $2 wager.
Trained by Ron Lineweaver for Alvin Lineweaver, Dinger Four was a ground-saving third for most of the mile before launching his winning move. It was the third victory in 64 career starts for the five-year-old Arts Card Trick-Miller Creek Heart gelding.
The shocker set up a pair of carryovers for Saturday’s program — a $5,680.10 carryover in the card’s first superfecta and a $1,769.31 carryover in the Pick 5, races eight through 12. First race post time on Saturday is 1 p.m.
