Dover Feature To Empress Deo
Empress Deo rallied to score a come-from-behind victory Tuesday’s $20,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap at Dover Downs.
While Elliesjet N (Jonathan Roberts) and Inittowinafortune (Corey Callahan) battled for the early lead and Purrfect Bags (Vic Kirby) and Scandalicious (Tim Tetrick) joined the action on the backstretch, Allan Davis waited until the top of stretch before unleashing Empress Deo. The five-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover-Kittle Miss K streaked to the finish line for a 1:51.4 triumph. Scandalicious finished second in front of Purrfect Bags.
Legacy Racing owns the six-time winner this year who now has won $159,633. It was the second win of the day for driver Davis and trainer Wayne Givens.
Victory Kirby manufactured a five-win performance on Tuesday’s card, as well.
Kirby clicked with JL Wonder Woman (1:52.1), Rowdy Patti (1:54.3), The Big Bankroll (1:53.4), Mischief Maker N (1:52.2) and Shewontkissandtell (1:57).
The productive day at the office bumped Kirby’s season’s total to 278 while his purse haul for the season climbed close to $3 million – a number he’s achieved in each of the last three seasons. Kirby’s a career winner of 3,723 races and more than $35 million in purse earnings.
