New Pick 7 Wager At Pocono
The implementation of a new Pick 7 wager and six divisions of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings will highlight Tuesday's (June 30) 16-live race card.
Pick 7 wagers can be made in denominations of a $1 or $2. There will be a minimum starting jackpot of $25,000 with this total growing each and every race date if no one successfully selects the winners of Races 6 through 12. However, there will be consolation payoffs each race night or day for the person or persons who select the most winners of the Pick 7 on that particular race day.
Dan Carter, a three-year-old I Am A Fool gelding trained by Ron Burke, will be making a return to the Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs to compete in the sire stakes after sweeping the late-closer Mohegan Pace for three – and four-year-olds back in late April and early May.
Six of the seven starts for Dan Carter have been victories in 2009, the latest in 1:51.1 in a Pennsylvania Sire Stakes race at the Meadows. Tim Tetrick is scheduled to drive Dan Carter in Tuesday’s sixth and final division.
Vertigo Hanover, a three-year-old The Panderosa colt, is another topnotch three-year-old colt set to go in the first sire stakes division Tuesday night. Monte Gelrod trains Vertigo Hanover, who was recently fifth in the $500,000 Hoosier Cup in Indiana with a time of 1:52.3. Vertigo Hanover has won two of six starts this season, including a 1:52.2 win at Mohawk in Canada.
