Eat Me Up Delightful In Victory
The first-over grind over the off track wasn't an issue for Eat Me Up, victorious in Tuesday's $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace for fillies and mares at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
In rein to Lorne House, second choice Eat Me Up was settled away early into fourth in the eight-horse contest while Katherine B (Nick Steward) fronted the field with a :28.3 opening panel. House was on the move first up with Eat Me Up and advancing through a :59.1 half.
Katherine B had favoured Cant Stop (Bob McClure) sitting on her back heading into the backstretch with Eat Me Up still advancing and within a length at the 1:28.3 third station. Brittle (Ryan Holliday) was launched three-wide as Katherine B started to fizzle and Eat Me Up took command. McClure was able to find room to angle Cant Stop off the wood and follow Eat Me Up into the stretch. Even after that first-up grind, Eat Me Up still had enough step left to hold off Cant Stop -- who dove to the inside -- by more than a length in 1:59.1 while Brittle completed the triactor ticket.
Trained by Tim Myers for owner Mike Cecile of Windsor, Ont, seven-year-old Eat Me Up (Mach Three - Presidentialintern) now has six wins on the season and 29 lifetime. Her earnings sit just shy of $450,000.
The 11-race Tuesday card boasted a solid handle in excess of $483,000. For the full results, click the following link: Tuesday Results - Western Fair.
