Manhattan Bluechip In To Go
The first leg of the Summertime Pacing Series for three-year-olds will serve as the opening act Friday, June 26 for Mohawk Racetrack’s marquee weekend, featuring the $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup.
Sophomore pacing action will get underway with three $20,000 opening leg splits of the Summertime Series, scheduled as Races 2, 4, and 6. The Friday card also features the $50,000 consolations of the Goodtimes Stakes and Elegantimage Stakes.
The Mark Austin-trained Manhattan Bluechip -- recently third in his division of the Burlington Stakes -- goes postward in the first of the three Summertime splits and has been installed as the 8-5 favourite. In the second division, Foolish Justice has been assigned the same status and odds. Foolish Justice, a son of I Am A Fool, has been out of the money only once in eight starts this season.
In the third and final Summertime split, trainer Tracy Brainard sends out Electric Energy, yet another Western Terror offspring from the Bulletproof Enterprises ownership group, which has had its picture taken in three of its four starts this spring. Electric Energy has been rated at odds of 5-2.
The second leg of the series is scheduled for Friday, July 3, with the $58,000 (est.) final on Saturday, July 11.
