Red Shores' Weekend All Set

Red Shores’ Charlottetown Driving Park is all set to host a pair of live programs this weekend, as the half-mile oval will present a pair of live cards, both of which will kick off with12:30 p.m. first-race post times.

CLIC K LOOKS TO VISIT WINNER’S CIRCLE IN SATURDAY FEATURE

The weekend action at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park kicks off Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. with live harness racing at the city track.

The 13-dash card features Clic K attempting a repeat of last week’s 1:56.2 performance in the Race 12 afternoon top class. Marc Campbell will be back in the bike for trainer Jackie Matheson and owner PLO Stables of Donagh. The Post 2 starter is right back in the same $2,000 class as his latest victory thanks to his $12,000 claiming price tag. Motorino (driven by Terry Gallant) and Best Risque (Jason Hughes) loom as dangers from Posts 5 and 1, respectively.

Race analyst Les MacIsaac is upset minded in the Saturday feature, as he places his trust in trailing Post 9 starter Rash B Havior with Ken Murphy in the bike for Michael Peters of Emyvale.

“Rash B Havior has hit the board in four of his last five, can kick home as
well as any of them in here and should be in line for a pretty good trip,” MacIsaac said. “He’s a potential sleeper.”

Other featured pacers include McJestic (Gary Chappell), Doing Some Damage (Corey MacPherson), Forever Paradise (Mike McGuigan), D Bs Rosco (Kenny Arsenault), and Perfect Escape (Ron Matheson).

Osprey Impact is entered to race in this week’s $1,850 Open Trot in Race 6 on the program after being absent the past two weeks. MacPherson drives Osprey Impact for owner-trainer Paul Larrabee of Belle River. The Charlottetown track record holder is currently boasting an impressive three-race win streak in this class with her chief rival, Freddie, noticeably absent this week.

Her toughest opponents out of six rivals appear to be Wedgewood (Chappell) and Thunderaway (Hughes).

PC Shockwave rides a two-race win streak into Race 13 with Post 7 and Marc Campbell at the lines for Clair Sweet of O’Leary.

Drivingthedragon N headlines the feature event Sunday afternoon at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park as the capital oval hosts a 14-dash card with a 12:30 p.m. start time.

Jason Hughes trains and drives the seven-year-old daughter of Sutter Hanover from Post 6 in the $2,300 pacing event for owner Donald MacRae of Vernon Bridge.

Island veteran All Turain has Post 3 in the event fresh off a 1:56.4 victory and reunites with Corey MacPherson in the bike for trainer Trevor Hicken and owner Lee Hicken of Charlottetown.

Simon Said was the highest priced claim of the season after trainer Joey Squires reached in to grab the four-year-old son of American Ideal for $10,000 last Sunday in Charlottetown. Squire co-owns with Jack MacGillivray of Charlottetown and Albert MacGillivray of Nova Scotia. Kenny Arsenault will drive Simon Said from Post 2 this week.

Other entries include Minor Wisdom (Wade Sorrie), Painted Desert (Norris Rogers) and Eagle Jolt (Marc Campbell).

The back-up pace lines up in Race 14 with Instant Shadow riding a two-race win streak and getting rail control for driver Mark Bradley and owner Ultimate Stables of New Brunswick. A newcomer to Island racing, Four Corners, has Post 3 in the $1,800 event with Ron Matheson driving in his Island debut for trainer Jackie Matheson and new owner Shirley Weeks of Hunter River.
