Katherine B Prevails In Preferred
Katherine B turned a two-hole trip into a sharp-looking score in Tuesday’s $8,300 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Alfie Carroll hustled Katherine B to an early lead, but race favourite Cant Stop insisted on looping that foe at the quarter pole in :27. Cant Stop cleared to the top and carved out middle splits of :56.2 and 1:25.3, but it was Katherine B who got the last laugh.
Carroll tipped the tripped out miss from the pocket in the lane and she responded with a :30.1 closing quarter. It was good enough to earn Katherine B the half-length triumph over Cant Stop in 1:56. Pinky Tuscadero rallied from far back to finish third.
Gord Mcdonnell trains the seven-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-Easton Alliance N for owner Thomas Knight of South Woodslee, Ont. The mare, who is now a 25-time winner to date, has lit the lamp six times this season. She’s also banked more than $50,000 on the year giving her a career total that stands at $181,161.
