Racing Official Resigns Over Allegations

An official with a harness racing commission recently resigned after having allegedly tipped off racing participants about upcoming stable raids.

According to an article by the Herald Sun, the unnamed 23-year-old official relinquished his post with the Queensland Racing Integrity Commission less than one week after having been stood down by the QRIC.

The QRIC had forwarded the information to a crime and corruption commission for independent investigation.

“I’m disappointed that this misconduct has occurred, however I am grateful the behaviour was brought to my attention by members of the industry, so we could take action to rectify the issue,” QRIC Commissioner Ross Barnett was quoted as saying.
