Last Chance For GRVR Adult Camp

A few spots are still remaining for Grand River Raceway’s upcoming Standardbred Xtreme Adult Harness

Camp.

The camp runs July 4 and 5, and the evening of July 6. Co-hosted by the Ontario Harness Horse Association, the camp will provide participants with a unique, hands-on learning experience, in addition to classroom sessions with industry professionals and officials.

Past participants in the camp were current, new and potential standardbred horse owners.

Participants will spend two to three hours each day learning the basics of grooming, harnessing, jogging, and shoeing.

The classroom topics include anatomy, basic care, horse health check, nutrition, horsemanship, stable management, conditioning, financials, fractional ownership and veterinary care.

The camp includes dinner and racing at Mohawk Racetrack on July 4, and a field trip to a local breeding farm on July 5.

The Standardbred Xtreme Camp will culminate with two live exhibition races on July 6 at Grand River, in which participants will be paired with a pro driver in a half-mile dash.

The inclusive cost for the camp is $300.
