Lakeisha Hall Breaks Northfield Record
Lakeisha Hall crossed the finish line faster than any other three-year-old filly pacer in the history of Northfield Park when she won the $14,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap in 1:52 on Saturday (October 1).
The clocking broke the former 1:52.3 record held by both Pan And Teller (Brett Miller), set in 2004, and Purrfect Bags (Tim Tetrick), paced in 2015.
Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Jack Piatt II own Lakeisha Hall. Ron Burke is her conditioner and Ronnie Wrenn Jr. was in the sulky for the winning drive.
Lakeisha Hall (Third Straight-Lantana-Art Major) started from post six. She fired off the gate and led the field through fractions of :27, :56.2, 1:24.2 and 1:52, besting her competition by seven lengths.
Lakeisha Hall now has seven wins in 11 starts this year. Saturday’s victory represents her 11th career score and bolstered her bankroll to $242,325.
She returned $6.80 to win.
