Jates Boy Edges Lis Deo At Scioto

The 10-1 shot Jates Boy passed the 4-5 favourite Lis Deo in deep stretch to win the featured pace on Saturday night at Scioto Downs. The winner tripped the timer in 1:53.4, scoring his fifth victory of the season

.

Driver Jeff Nisonger sent Lis Deo, who shipped in after racing at the Meadowlands and Yonkers, to the front at the start of the race and rated him with confidence. Lis Deo was on top by 2-1/2 lengths when the field turned into the stretch but driver Chip Noble had Jates Boy fired up and pacing fast. He caught Lis Deo and won by a head.

The winner is trained by Mark Gillenwater for Daniel B. Stone and Jerry L. Shaffer. It was a new lifetime mark for the five-year-old gelding. Jates Boy paid $21.20 to win.

Lis Deo, who has yet to win in 10 starts this season, was second while Attack On Magic was three lengths back in third.
