Favoured Fillies Deliver In Liberty Bell
Friday afternoon's Liberty Bell Series action at Harrah's Philadelphia consisted of a pair of $35,000 divisions for the three-year-old trotting fillies.
The Canadian-owned Womans Will ($4.20) retook the lead from longshot leaver Turn The Paige after the first quarter and rebuffed the backstretch brush of second choice Lookin Sharp to win her division by two and three-quarter lengths in a career-best mile time of 1:54.1. The homebred Donato Hanover-Will Of A Woman filly is owned by Marvin Katz of Toronto and Al Libfeld of Pickering, Ont. Julie Miller handles the training duties while her husband Andy was aboard for the successful front-end mission.
The Ake Svandstedt stable's Windowshopper ($2.20) was a dominant 1:53.4 winner in the other division, pocketing the second wagering favourite Maker A Yankee in an early first quarter tussle and then trotting away from her foes by eight and three-quarter lengths. Svandstedt shares ownership of the Donato Hanover-Woodshopper filly with Knutsson Trotting Inc.
