Kalahari Riff Wins Yorkton Open
Kalahari Riff, a five-year-old homebred son of Bo Knows Jate, delivered a winning performance in the $1,250 Open Pace for Kevin Siever on Friday night at Yorkton Exhibition
.
With Siever at the lines, Kalahari Riff worked his way to the lead through panels of :29.1, 1:00.3 and 1:31.1 put up by Shadow Promises (Glenn LeDrew). In the homestretch, the fan favourite pulled away by two and a half lengths from his three rivals to win in 2:01.1.
Outlaw Watch Me (Brain Gray) was the runner-up with Shadow Promises finishing third.
Kalahari Riff scored his second win in four starts this year and 20th of his career lifting his earnings to $25,362.
Trainer Tyler Redwood was a dominant force himself winning three of nine races on the program. The resident of Regina, Saskatchewan guided back-to-back winners in the fifth and sixth races aboard Air Force Hall (2:04.1) and Phil House (2:05). Redwood capped off the night with one more win in the ninth race. Donald Tracey drove Elvishadleftthebdg to victory in 2:03.4 giving Redwood a total of seven training wins this year and 33 in his career with over $50,000 earned.
