Another Open Win For Stirling Cadet
Stirling Cadet (Conway Hall) did what Stirling Cadet does on Saturday night in the Open Trot at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
The Jackie Rousse trainee prevailed for the fourth consecutive time in the $15,000 local Open and for the fifth time in his last six tries.
Frank Coppola Jr. left a bit with the race’s 1-5 betting favourite and after finding an early comfort zone, moved the star trotter first over heading to three-quarters. Stirling Cadet blasted by his competition and once again hit the wire first, this time in 1:55.1. Cash Poor (Jim Devaux) led throughout before being confronted and bypassed by Stirling Cadet and held on to finish second in his return to the Open. Ulster (Billy Dobson) earned the show spot in his debut in the local feature.
Stirling Cadet has put together a resume such that he is the clear front-runner for Horse of the Year honours at Saratoga as he has exhibited consistency and dominance in the local Open Trot all year long.
The five-year-old Conway Hall gelding is owned by Kellogg Racing Stables.
