Leamington's Kids Day A Success
On a day when over 100 kids were on hand to join the crowd of over 1,000 people at Leamington Raceway, supporters of Kids Day provided 20 new bikes, clothing, face painting, a meet and greet with Sunshine The Clown and more.
A big shout out goes to those who provided the bikes, including the likes of Louie Sorella and Blake MacIntosh.
On the track, it was a two-year-old Camluck colt that stole the show as Evil Cam Evil ($4.60) won his third in a row, going wire-to-wire in 2:00.1 for owners Doug and Dennis Belan and Brian Fitzgerald, and trainer Bill Brown. The time of the mile was a new track record for two-year-old male pacers, shaving one-fifth of a second off Isitfridayyet's mark.
The win was the second of the day for driver Alex Lilley, who had earlier won the feature race with Eat Me Up ($8.50), a seven-year-old Mach Three mare for trainer Tim Meyer and owner Mike Cecile of Windsor, Ont.
The on-track handle continues to grow as the crowd bet $36,600.
The handicapping contest was won by Doug Raper, and the drivers bike race was won by Anthony Hamlin.
