Surrealist Again At Inverness
At the age of 10, Surrealist continues to impress. His latest score gives him four straight tallies over Nova Scotia's Inverness Raceway.
Colin Kelly took favoured Surrealist back off the gate in Wednesday's featured $1,000 Winners Over Pace and allowed Rambling Gambler (Rodney Gillis) to take early command. Kelly started a first over bid with Surrealist just past the :30.2 opening quarter, closer to the leader at the 1:02 half. Rambling Gambler's lead diminished to a half-length by the 1:32 third split before Surrealist kicked into another gear and pulled away by two at the head of the lane. At the wire, the margin of victory was three lengths with the mile paced in 2:02.1. (Wednesday's card transpired over a track rated good with judges applying a two-second variant early, eventually downgraded to sloppy with a four-second variant.)
Surrealist (Modern Art - Keeping Secrets) is owned by Dana Getto and trained by Richard Mullins. With nine wins on the season from 17 starts, Surrealist has matched his win total from last year in 13 fewer starts.
