Campbell Holds Hot Hands Thursday
The Ferris wheel lights may not have been in the background at Red Shores Charlottetown on Thursday night, but driver Marc Campbell had no problem lighting it up.
Campbell, a two-time Gold Cup and Saucer winner, went swinging for the fences and hit a Grand Slam on the 12-dash card. He capped his four victories off in the Open Trot with his own trainee, Freddie. Campbell has a perfect pocket ride behind the newly deemed track record holder Osprey Impact before she spoiled her chances with a break around the final turn.
The four-year-old gelded son of Majestic Son returned to winning form scoring in 1:58.3 for his tenth victory of the season for the Three Wisemen Stable.
The Winsloe native also scored with Vintage Winner, Yankee No More and Cardigan Jack who was part of a training double for trainer Paul Morrison. Zanzibar scored in a lifetime best 1:58 to complete the double.
Doing Some Damage priced up the Thursday evening top class, entered as a $12,000 claimer driver Corey MacPherson blasted his charge off of the gate and set up for a pocket ride heading towards the half. The Trevor Hicken trainee slipped up the passing lane for his 40th lifetime victory in 1:55.2. Kent Livingston is the owner. The 6-2-1 triactor was the selection of track announcer Vance Cameron.
Trainer Jackie Matheson picked up his 39th and 40th Red Shores Charlottetown victories on the card courtesy of Artners In Crime and Alittleeasternagic.
