Another Open Victory For Tajmeallover
Tajmeallover took the lead at the half-mile mark and defeated the Sanford Campbell stablemates to earn her seventh Open Pace victory this year in Saturday afternoon's $10,500 distaff feature at Century Downs Racetrack and Casino.
Driver and co-owner J.F. Gagne sent 3-5 favourite Tajmeallover ($3.40) on the move from fourth in front of the grandstand after a :29.1 first quarter and swept by Skade (Brandon Campbell) at the :57.1 half-mile marker. The Marjorie Dumont trainee sprinted to three-quarters in 1:24.4 while extending her lead to three lengths and then cruised home for the 1:54.1 victory. Skade rallied down the stretch with American Passion (Mike Hennessy) tipping off her back from third and making it up in a photo finish for place. Skade ultimately held on for the runner-up honours, finishing one and three-quarter lengths behind the winner.
Tajmeallover has hit the board in 16 of her 18 starts this year against Open company and has yet to miss a paycheque while accumulating $53,285 in purse money. Lifetime, the five-year-old distaffer as earned 22 wins from 43 starts and a bankroll of $148,366.
Gagne co-owns the homebred Tajma Hall-Watch Over Me mare with Peter Van Seggelen, Carl Warnaar and Tapron Holdings Ltd.
