Quebec's famous five-mile race, Le 5 Milles Casino-Charlevoix, is set for its 106th renewal this Sunday (August 14).

Conducted for the last four years at Hippodrome de la Vallée in Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs, this year's race attracted a group of nine pacers that will go 10 laps around the half-mile oval.

Last year's winner Sea Donkey is back to defend his Five-Mile title. Owned by trainer Marc Lemay, six-year-old Sea Donkey (Always A Virgin - Crispy Creme) has Post 5 and will be teamed with driver Steeven Genois, who won this race in 2011 with longshot Treasure Planet.

The morning line favourite is the red-hot Strokin. A winner of four of his last five starts, Strokin (Whosurboy - Cherrie Seelster) recently set a two-mile world record at Hippodrome 3R and an all-age track record at Bedford. Yves Tessier trains the seven-year-old for owner Francois Morin. Louis Philippe Roy is listed to drive.

Nearly $23,000 in purses are up for grabs over the 10-race card, and there will be pari-mutuel wagering offered. Rain or shine, first race post time is set for 1:00 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
