According to a release from Winbak Farm, emergency surgery has had to be performed on Malabar

Man on Saturday, June 13.

The surgery, for a scrotal hernia, was performed at New England Equine Practice in Patterson, New York.

The release states that, at this time, Winbak Farm of New York can report that Malabar Man is in stable condition and is doing well. Although, due to the severity of the operation and time needed for his full recovery, Malabar Man will no longer be available for stallion services for the remainder of the 2009 breeding season.

Malabar Man was voted to the Harness Racing Hall of Fame in 2008 as well as producing the 2008 Dan Patch winner (Two-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year) Honorable Daughter, undefeated $175,000 NYSS colt champion Donttellmywife, and $175,000 NYSS filly champion Shes So Savvy.

Malabar Man himself was an incredible racehorse making over $2 million and being voted Two-Year-Old and Three-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year, as well as being voted Dan Patch Horse of the Year at three.

Please join Standardbred Canada in wishing Malabar Man a speedy recovery.
