Nobody Could Knock Down 'Jack'
Nocdown Jack turned back all challengers en route to victory in the featured $900 Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs on Saturday
. The six-year-old son of Twin B Champ, who made the move out East from Ontario in early May, notched his first victory of the year under the care of Dana Getto.
Driven by co-owner Randy Getto, the 2-1 second choice used the inside post position to his advantage by establishing himself as the early leader. After putting up a :30.2 first quarter, Nocdown Jack turned backed a challenge from I Am Mint (Keith Dicks) at the half in 1:02.2. From there fan favourite Lexus Bandito (Joseph Campbell) took a shot at the pacesetter during the third interval. Nocdown Jack battled back past three-quarters in 1:31.3 then coasted home to win in 2:01.3 by a length and a quarter.
Lexus Bandito had to settle for second and Shifty Shadow (Edgar Jacobs) rounded out the top three.
Angus Maceachern of Sydney, N.S. also shares ownership of the 10-time victor who has earned $71,702 in his career.
In other action, Kevin Bailey picked up three wins on the 14-race program and sat in the bike himself for two of those triumphs.
Greg Bailey guided J Ls Newsboy (2:04) to victory in the first race then Kevin picked up a win himself with X Rated Show (2:07), who made her sophomore debut in the third. Kevin’s third win came in the 10th race with Canbec Fangio.
The resident of Sydney, N.S. has won 16 races this year and 276 in his career good for over $262,000 in purse earnings.
