Charity Chariots Continue At Hoosier
The second round of Charity Chariots will be held Saturday, June 13 at Hoosier Park Racing and Casino. Guests 18 years of age and older can get the unique experience to drive a real racehorse with one of the Fab Five drivers and raise money for charity in the process.
Registration for Charity Chariots begins at 10:30 a.m. and rides around Hoosier Park’s seven-eighths mile oval are conducted from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. Cost for the event is $20 with $10 going to the drivers’ chosen charity and $10 going to the Harness Tracks of America (HTA) Scholarship Fund. Included in the list of charities for the event is American Cancer Society for Jason Dillander, Drug Awareness Resistance Education (DARE) with Trace Tetrick, Outfitters, Inc. of Pendleton, Indiana for Joe Putnam, Indiana School for the Deaf with Ricky Macomber, and Shriners Hospitals for Children selected by Mike Peterson.
Charity Chariots will be conducted each Saturday in June. Horses used for the event and currently racing at Hoosier Park include CJ Blaze, who was a winner Thursday, June 4 for trainer Jimmy Byers. Other horses in Charity Chariots are Tessalation from the Jeff Brewer Stable, who finished third Tuesday, June 9, Tanner Monroe from the Tom Hall Stable, Day Glow from the Randy Hatton Stable, and Chilling Effect from the Rick Redder Stable. Charity Chariots will continue Saturday, June 20 with the final weekend offered Saturday, June 27.
