Trainer Fined $6K Over Phone Call
A Standardbred racing commission recently handed out a $6,000 fine to a trainer after it was learned that he had a telephone conversation with a horseperson that has since been banned from the industry.
Earlier this month, the Harness Racing Victoria Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board found Vince Vallelonga guilty of two charges stemming from a telephone conversation he had with Shayne Cramp on the morning of October 29, 2014, according to a brief article by Sunraysia Daily.
Last fall, HRV banned Shayne Cramp and Greg Cramp for 12 years due to race fixing. For more information on that ruling, click here.
The Sunraysia Daily article states that the telephone conversation between Cramp and Vallelonga was about the running of a race that both were involved in.
