Salive Back To Kawartha Saturday

Kawartha Downs’ race fans will have their last opportunity to hear legendary announcer Frank Salive this Saturday night.

Saturday will be the third time that Salive will have graced the Fraserville oval’s announcer’s booth, as the track’s regular race caller, Evan Loucks, takes some summer holidays.

“I really enjoy coming to Kawartha,” Salive noted on his first trip to the five-eighths mile track this year. “It’s always a great atmosphere, wonderful fans and horsepeople and it’s heartening to see the crowds that come out. Peterborough has always had a soft spot in my heart because of my years of playing for the ‘Petes.’”

Salive, who was the longtime announcer on the Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit, is often called the voice of Canadian harness racing. He retired a few years back and now spends his winters in Florida and comes home to Ontario during the summer. This year he’s the regular announcer at Fort Erie Race Track.

First-race post time at Kawartha Downs on Saturday night is 7 p.m.
