TSN Feature On Classy Lane
While the Queen's Plate has produced some of Canadian horse racing's most dramatic moments, it was a race back in January where Woodbine Racetrack yet again served as the stage for a very important race. One that came on the heels of an event that shook the horse racing community not just across Canada, but around the world.
TSN has produced a video feature on the tragic barn fire at Classy Lane Training Centre. The piece, produced by Matthew Dorman and narrated by Brian Williams, focuses on the story of four-year-old Rakin It In. The fractious pacer was set to make his pari-mutuel debut on January 4, 2016 at Woodbine, and that start prevented his untimely passing.
As many recall, his story didn't end there. Rakin It In was entered to race one week later and paced the race of his life in an emotional victory for owner Doug Millard and trainer Chantal Mitchell, who lost all of her horses in the Classy Lane fire but him.
TSN originally aired the feature on Pepsi North America Cup night, and will also be showing the piece during Sunday's 2016 Queen's Plate broadcast. To view the feature online, click the following link: TSN Original: Barn 1
