Jeb, Ramblinglily Shine At Red Shores
Jeb, in line to driver/trainer Jason Hughes, needed every step of the racetrack to collar fraction-setter Forever Paradise in the $2,300 top class on Saturday (July 2) at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The ‘Blue Knight’ used a first over attack before dropping into the two-hole up the backstretch during a :28.3 third quarter. He moved Jeb back out at the top of the stretch and nailed the victory at the wire in 1:55. The four-year-old son of Camluck picked up his third consecutive victory for owners Robi Hughes, Eric MacLauchlan and Blair MacLauchlan, all of Stratford, P.E.I.
Dubbed the ‘Queen of the Open Mares’ in the Maritime region, Ramblinglily used a perfect two-hole trip for reinsman Walter Cheverie to return to her winning form this week in 1:55.4. Owned by New Brunswick's Allan Jones and Norm Leger, the Maritime-bred daughter of Articulator looked prepped and ready for next week’s Lobsterfest eliminations at Red Shores Summerside.
Driver and trainer Kenny Arsenault picked up a pair of victories with a set of dandy looking three-year-old colts. Lukes Cowboy took a two-hole ride until the three-quarter pole before making his move to score in 1:56.2. Rosewood was sent right down the road, stopping the teletimer in 1:57.2.
Corey MacPherson extended his lead as the top driver at Red Shores Charlottetown with victories aboard his own trainees Brodys Leona and Swingirl. He also won with Idealic Life for the natural hat-trick.
