Pair Of Preferreds At Georgian Downs
Brawn Seelster used his customary off-the-pace tactics on Tuesday evening and Just Plug It In used his
run-and-gun style to claim weekly bragging rights in the Preferred ranks at Georgian Downs.
Known for his closing kick, Brawn Seelster used that weapon to perfection to take home the lion’s share of the $15,000 purse offered in the Preferred Trot for owner/trainer/driver Callie Rankin of Dundas and partner Jeff Goreski of Richmond Hill, ON.
The seven-year-old son of Berndt Hanover-Bambino Rose tracked covered up the backstretch before sprinting home in :28.4 en route to the 1:56.2 victory over Titan Park and Canbec Fridolin.
It was the eighth win of the campaign in just 16 starts for Brawn Seelster, who is now a 41-time winner in his career. He has banked in excess of $86,000 this season, while his lifetime cash stash stands at $445,877.
Despite missing a month since shipping in from a short stint in New York at Yonkers Raceway, Just Plug It In marched to the front and didn’t look back in the $15,000 Preferred Pace for the tandem of driver Rick Zeron and trainer Duane Marfisi.
Zeron rolled the five-year-old son of Artsplace-Electrical Express through splits of :27, :56 and 1:24.3 before sealing the deal with a final quarter clocked in :28 seconds. He was nearly four lengths better than Secret Weapon, who was second best to the 1:52.3 winner. Donegal Gerald grabbed the show dough.
Alan Alber of Thornhill, Aaron Waxman of Brantford and PSHL Stable of Carlisle, ON split the bills and the winnings on the career winner of $216,766. The victory was pacer’s third of the season from just eight trips postward. It was the 14th win of his career.
