Sires Stakes At Dresden On Canada Day
The Canada Day Card of racing at Dresden Raceway will be headlined by five Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions for three year-old trotting fillies.
The locally-owned True Muscle is the 2-1 morning line favourite in the second race for star driver Jody Jamieson. The Muscle Mass filly has made 10 starts this season and has notched one win, a pair of second-place finishes and has banked over $19,000 in purse earnings. The only time Jamieson has been paired with the filly she scored her only win at Mohawk Racetrack. True Muscle is owned by Dover Centre’s Randy Zhok.
Jamieson isn’t the only big name scheduled to be in Dresden on Sunday, as Jack Moiseyev will be in town with his own filly, Magical Valentine. The Kadabra filly is the 7-5 morning line favourite for the seventh race. Moiseyev has almost 9,800 career victories as a driver and has driven his mounts to over $131 million in purse earnings.
Top trainers Bob McIntosh and Jack Darling will square off in the first race. Darling will send the 8-5 favourite Devils Advocate behind the gate from the rail, while McIntosh will send hopeful Tough Affair to Post 4. The filly has been pegged at odds of 9-2 on the morning line.
The special card of racing will also feature a pari-mutuel RUS (Racing Under Saddle) race. The contest has been carded as Race 9. Five entries will feature Standardbreds with riders instead of drivers, similar to their Thoroughbred cousins.
Canada Day will also feature many giveaways, contests and prizes, as well as an eight-foot cake decorated like a Canadian Flag.
The card of live racing will kick off with a first-race post time of 1:30 p.m.
